Wolverton Gilbert and Sullivan Society Presents HMS Pinafore in May 2023
Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th May 2023 at Stantonbury Theatre,
Of all the comic operas Gilbert and Sullivan wrote, HMS Pinafore was the one that really set them on the road to fame. HMS Pinafore ran for an unprecedented 571 performances and was widely copied and pirated both here and abroad. It is a very funny story of honour, duty and, of course, true love.
The Captain's daughter Josephine is in love with a common sailor, Ralph Rackstraw. Her father wants her to marry Sir Joseph Porter, the Admiralty's First Lord. Which to choose? Love or duty? Or can it be both? Find out as Miss Buttercup brings a boatload of trouble to HMS Pinafore.
Wolverton G&S Society's production will be performed in traditional G&S style at the recently re-furbished Stantonbury theatre in May this year. HMS Pinafore is directed by Paula Fraser and David Anstice-Pim is our Musical Director and conductor. The singers and performers will of course be joined by a full pit orchestra for the complete musical experience.
There is an interval of approximately 20 minutes. Refreshments and a licenced bar are available as well as the all-important raffle!
HMS Pinafore sails into Stantonbury Theatre on Wednesday 10 May to Saturday 13 May and the ship docks at 7.30pm each evening.
