Auditions for Our Kind of Music

Auditions will be held during a full company rehearsal on Friday 6th February at West End United Church. Here are the music audition pieces so we can practice!

If you can’t make the 6th, there will be a return match on Friday 13th. Lucky for some!

There nearly 40 roles in Our Kind of Music so it would take far too long to audition each one. Instead we will audition one piece for each voice. You can indicate a preference for a part other than the one you perform at audition.

Singing parts

High Voices

The whole company will sing through the audition numbers before the individuals sing solo.

You can, of course, audition for more than one voice. Your vocal range is probably greater than you imagine!

No gendered roles here. The audition piece for both sopranos and tenors is Sit Down You’re Rocking The Boat from the beginning to bar 55

Medium voices

For those in the middle, either male or female voices will be invited to perform Flash Bang Wallop! from bar 14 to bar 47

Or, if they prefer, Joseph from letter A to letter C, including the repeat

Low voices – male

For basses and baritones and grumbly tenors, we have Mascara from rehearsal mark 15 to 62

Low voices – female

And for Altos and mezzo-sopranos who fancy a change from just singing the melody we have My Husband Makes Movies from the beginning to the second time bar on page 19

Spoken parts

Here are scripts for spoken parts. You can read any parts you fancy. Definitely worth it for a bit of Thesping!

The audition panel and people auditioning for other parts will read in.

Script 1 – Estragon, Vladimir, Georges and Albin

Script 2 – Estragon, Vladimir, Pirate King, Samuel and Major General

Script 3 – Frederik and Desiree
