The first production

Wolverton G&S have performed The Gondoliers 5 times.

Our first production of The Gondoliers was in 1980. The photograph on this page is an AI enhanced copy of the 44 year old original. Tony Selby and Derek Fielder were Marco and Guiseppe. Tessa was played by Pam Pritchard and Susannah Marshall played Gianetta.

That show was directed by Phil Street and the musical director was Arnold Jones.

Further productions followed in 1989, 1999, and 2009. Our most recent performance of this show was in 2018 directed by Mike Crofts who was, of course, also the musical director.

Graham Mitchell and Roger Whatmore were paired with Paula Fraser and Jo Bigg as the four star-crossed lovers. Alan Bennett was Don Alhambra and Graham Healing the Duke.
